Colorado State honors seniors in final Mountain West matchup

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — The Colorado State softball team fell to Grand Canyon 11–2 on Saturday at Ram Field. The Rams honored their two seniors, Giselle Bentley and Delaney Saugstad, in today's game as they wrap up their career at Ram Field.  
  
CSU responded to Grand Canyon's two run advantage when Lauren Stucky scored on Abby Edwards' bases-loaded walk. 
  
In the second inning, Grand Canyon extended its lead with two more runs, including a sacrifice fly by Mackenzie Nolan and an RBI groundout by Sydney McCray, bringing the score to 4–1. 
  
Grand Canyon added another run in the fifth inning with Trinity Martin's RBI walk, finalizing the score at 11–2. 
  
Both seniors honored in today's game saw the mound in their final game at Ram Field. Giselle Bentley entered in relief, pitching one inning and giving up one run on two hits with no walks or strikeouts. Delaney Saugstad finished the game, pitching a half inning without allowing a hit or run. 
  
Wilson recorded a home run and drove in one run, contributing significantly to the team's offensive performance. Edwards drew two walks and added one RBI, playing a key role in the team's scoring opportunities. Stucky scored one run and reached base with one walk, helping to keep the pressure on the opposing defense. Madi Eslinger collected one hit, adding to the Rams' efforts at the plate. 
  
CSU holds an overall record of 23–27 and a conference record of 11–14. Grand Canyon boasts an overall record of 48–7 and a conference record of 21–4. 
 
Up Next: The Rams have secured their place in the Mountain West Conference Tournament, set to begin tournament play Wednesday May 6 in Reno, Nevada.
