Two grand slams secure game three win against Aggies

LOGAN, Utah — Colorado State (23-24, 11-11 MW) defeated Utah State (19-31, 7-15 MW) with a decisive 15-6 victory on Saturday at LaRee and LeGrand Johnson Softball Field. Colorado State's offense was highlighted by an explosive second inning, scoring eight runs and featuring two grand slams.

In the first inning, Jailey Wilson doubled to left center, paving the way for Madi Eslinger, who homered to right field, driving in two runs. This initial surge put the Rams ahead 2-0.

The second inning saw further offensive strength from the Rams. Kyra Smith doubled, and the team capitalized on a Utah State error and a hit by pitch to score. Smith later homered to right center for four unearned runs, extending the lead. By the end of the inning, CSU led 10-1.

In the third inning, Eslinger homered again, this time to center field, bringing in four more runs. This marked Eslinger's first career grand slam and her fourth home run of the season.

The game concluded after the fifth inning, with the final score favoring CSU, 15-6.

Reagan Wick pitched one and a half innings in relief, allowing three hits and one earned run while striking out two batters on 43 pitches, with 27 recorded as strikes. Andrea Jaskowiak started the game, pitching three and a half innings, striking out two and walking just one. Jaskowiak threw a total of 52 pitches, 28 of which were strikes and holds a season record of 4-4.

Madi Eslinger led the team with a commanding performance, scoring three runs, collecting two hits and driving in seven RBI, including two home runs. Kyra Smith contributed significantly by tallying two runs, two hits and four RBI, highlighted by a home run. Jailey Wilson was pivotal, finishing with three hits, two of which were doubles and scoring three runs. Lauren Stucky added to the offensive effort by recording one hit and driving in two RBI.
