Colorado State completes its second conference series of the week

FORT COLLINS - The Colorado State softball team fall in two close battles against Fresno State Saturday during its conference series against the Bulldogs.

Game One: Colorado State, 2 | Fresno State, 3
  • Colorado State (20-20) fell to Fresno State (18-17) with a final score of 3-2 in a tightly contested matchup at Margie Wright Diamond on Saturday. CSU's effort included a home run among its three hits, but Fresno State managed to score the decisive run in the eighth inning.
  • In the fifth inning, Madi Eslinger leveled the playing field for CSU with a home run to left field, tying the score at 1-1.
  • The seventh inning saw both teams scoring. CSU pulled ahead when Eslinger doubled to left center, allowing pinch runner Lindsey Hinson to score from first base. However, Fresno State responded, tying the game at 2-2.
  • In extra innings, Fresno State secured the victory in the eighth. Jamie Hicks doubled to right center, driving in Emma Martinez from first base for a walk-off RBI.
  • Reagan Wick pitched a complete game for the Rams, delivering eight innings against Fresno State. Wick allowed six hits and three earned runs while striking out five batters and walking one. Despite the solid effort, Wick conceded a home run and threw 115 pitches, 71 of which were strikes, resulting in a loss that moved her record to 11-8 for the season.
  • Madi Eslinger posted a strong performance with two hits, including a home run, and collected two RBIs. Jailey Wilson contributed with one hit and drew a walk in the game. Lindsey Hinson made an impact as a pinch runner, scoring a run after entering during the seventh inning.
Game Two: Colorado State, 1 | Fresno State, 2
  • Colorado State fell to Fresno State 2-1 in a tightly contested game at Margie Wright Diamond on Saturday. The Rams' lone run came from a solo home run from Jailey Wilson, but it was not enough to overcome Fresno State's early lead.
  • Fresno State took an early lead in the first inning when Emma Martinez doubled and later scored on a fielder's choice by Jamie Hicks. The score stood at 1-0 in favor of Fresno State after the first inning.
  • Colorado State responded in the seventh inning. Jailey Wilson hit a solo home run to left field, bringing the score to 2-1. Despite a single by Madi Eslinger and another single by Kyra Smith, a double play ended the inning and the game.
  • Giselle Bentley pitched a complete game for CSU, allowing four hits and two earned runs over six innings. She struck out one batter and walked one, throwing 71 pitches with 44 strikes. Bentley gave up one home run but maintained composure throughout her outing, finishing the game with her sixth loss of the season.
  • Jailey Wilson made a significant impact with a home run, adding a run and an RBI to her performance. Autumn Rutherford contributed a triple, marking one hit in the game, with Kyra Smith also collecting one hit.
