Rams Drop Game Two Against UNLV

Colorado State loses battle against the Rebels

LAS VEGAS — Colorado State fell to the UNLV 8-0 on Friday at Eller Media Stadium. The Rams were limited to four hits and committed three errors, while the Rebels capitalized with 12 hits and eight runs. 
  
UNLV took an early lead in the first inning when Bri Williams scored on a single by Keyannah Chavez, following a throwing error, giving them a 1-0 advantage. 
  
In the second inning, Mantha Hatzenbeller scored on a sacrifice fly by Lyla Gonzalez, extending UNLV's led to 2-0. 
  
UNLV further increased its lead in the third inning. Natalie Turner, Chavez and Gwyn Burnett scored, aided by a combination of singles and a fielder's choice, pushing the score to 5-0. 
   
In the fifth inning, Hailey Gilbertson, who pinch-ran for Gonzalez, scored on a double by Williams, sealing the game with a final score of 8-0. 
  
Giselle Bentley started for the Rams, pitching three innings while allowing seven hits and six runs, three of which were earned. Bentley faced 18 batters and threw 46 pitches, with 31 strikes, but did not record a strikeout. Olivia Schmidt entered in relief, pitching the rest of the game and allowing five hits and two earned runs. Schmidt struck out one batter and threw 31 pitches, with 19 strikes. 
  
Bradie Poteet-Herre led the team with a perfect performance at the plate, recording two hits in two at-bats. Lauren Stucky contributed with one hit in three plate appearances, adding to the offensive efforts. Autumn Rutherford also added a hit in her three plate appearances, maintaining a consistent effort. 
  
CSU holds an overall record of 17-19 with a conference record of 5-6. UNLV has an overall record of 20-17 and a conference record of 7-4. 
 
The Rams will finish their series against the Rebels on Saturday at 1 p.m. MT.
