Rams Fall in Game One Against Rebels

Colorado State battles against UNLV

LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Colorado State (17-18, 5-5) fell to the UNLV Rebels (19-17, 6-4) in a closely contested matchup at Eller Media Stadium on Thursday.  
  
Colorado State faced off against UNLV, eventually falling 3–2. In the second inning, Autumn Rutherford singled, reaching second on an error and scored on Kaylynn English's RBI single to center field, tying the game at 1-1. 
 
The fifth inning saw another run for the Rams after Rutherford doubled to right center and English reached on a fielder's choice. With two runners on, Clarissa Castillo walked, setting the stage for Lauren Stucky, who singled to left center, bringing English home and tying the score at 2-2. 
  
In the seventh inning, UNLV's Bri Williams reached on a throwing error and Natalie Turner delivered the walk-off single, leading to the decisive run. 
  
Reagan Wick started in the circle for CSU, delivering four innings with nine hits, two earned runs and no walks, while striking out four batters. Wick faced 19 batters, throwing 76 pitches with 48 strikes and successfully picked off one runner. Andrea Jaskowiak relieved Wick, pitching the remainder of the game, allowing two hits and no earned runs, while also recording two strikeouts. Jaskowiak effectively managed 10 batters with 40 pitches, 27 of which were strikes, and did not allow any walks. 
  
Rutherford recorded three hits, including a double, in three at-bats. English contributed with a hit and an RBI in three plate appearances.  
 
The Rams will continue their series against the Rebels on Saturday at 4 p.m. MT.
