Rams Fall in Game Three versus Aztecs

3/15/2026 3:15:00 PM | Softball

Colorado State to return home for four-day weekend

SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Colorado State fell to San Diego State 2-0 at the SDSU Softball Stadium on Sunday afternoon in game three of the Rams' opening conference series. Colorado State (13-14, 1-2 MW) managed five hits but could not convert them into runs, leaving nine stranded on base. SDSU (17-11, 2-1 MW) capitalized early with a first-inning run and held onto the lead with solid pitching throughout the game.

In the first inning, the Aztecs took an early lead when Angie Yellen's RBI single brought home Jade Ignacio.

The Aztecs added one more run of insurance with a solo home run in the sixth, and despite efforts from CSU, including a two-hit day by Autumn Rutherford, the Rams were unable to capitalize on scoring opportunities throughout the game, threatening in the third through sixth innings with multiple baserunners each

Reagan Wick pitched five and two-thirds innings, allowing four hits and two earned runs, while facing 23 batters. She threw 83 pitches, with 51 being strikes, and recorded six groundouts and 11 flyouts. Olivia Schmidt made a brief appearance, recording one out on four pitches without allowing any hits or runs to close out the sixth inning.

Other offensive production for the Rams came from Kyra Smith, who collected one hit and advanced runners three times in four at-bats. Lauren Stucky added a hit and successfully laid down a sacrifice bunt in her four plate appearances.

Up Next: The Rams will return home for a four-day weekend featuring their last non-conference matchup of the season versus Saint Mary's Thursday afternoon at Ram Field before hosting New Mexico in their first home Mountain West series Friday through Sunday. Thursday's first pitch is set for 1 p.m.
