Colorado State splits day two of NorCal Kickoff
DAVIS, Calif. - Colorado State takes game over UC Davis in day two of opening weekend, after falling short to San Diego. Colorado State capitalized on UC Davis's three errors and broke the game open with a three-run fifth inning, improving its record to 2-2.Â

Game 2: Colorado State, 6 | UC Davis, 2Â
- Colorado State opened the game with a strong start, as Lauren Stucky walked and advanced on a single by Jailey Wilson. Kyra Smith's infield bunt single loaded the bases, allowing Clarissa Castillo to drive in Stucky with a sacrifice fly, putting CSU on the board first. The Rams held a 1-0 lead after the first inning. Â
- In the second inning, the Rams capitalized on a fielding error, with Autumn Rutherford reaching second base. Stucky then delivered a crucial double to left center, driving in Rutherford and extending the Rams' lead to 2-0. UC Davis was held scoreless through two innings. Â
- The fifth inning was pivotal for Colorado State, as they widened the gap with a three-run surge. Stucky singled and advanced on Kyra Smith's hit, setting the stage for Allyson Moody's RBI double that scored Stucky. By the end of the fifth, the Rams led 5-1. Â
- In the sixth inning, the Rams added another run as Wilson walked and advanced on Kyra Smith's walk. Moody's single to right brought Wilson home, making it a 6-1 game. UC Davis managed to add a run in the seventh, but the defense held firm, securing a 6-2 victory.Â
- Andrea Jaskowiak started the game for Colorado State, pitching six full innings while allowing six hits and two runs, only one of which was earned. Jaskowiak struck out seven batters and issued two walks over 115 pitches. Reagan Wick entered in relief during the seventh inning, without allowing a hit or run, and earned the save by retiring both batters faced on four pitches, all strikes.Â

- The game opened with a scoreless first inning, as neither team allowed a base runner.  Â
- Castillo provided a spark with a double in the bottom of the fourth, but the team was unable to capitalize on the opportunity, leaving the score unchanged at 4-0 after five innings.Â
- In the bottom of the seventh, Smith doubled to right center and advanced to third on a single by Stucky. Allyson Moody, pinch-hitting, singled to first base, allowing Smith to score, putting the Rams on the board.Â

Up Next: The Rams will compete in day three of the NorCal Kickoff on Sunday February 8 against Sacramento State to complete opening weekend. Â
