Tess Whineray walked away from the Mountain West Championships as a NCAA automatic qualifier after winning the 200-yard backstroke title in a school- and conference=championship-record time of 1:52.82.
She was also the runner-up in the 100 backstroke with a school-record posting of 51.73 and helped a trio or relays (200 and 400 free, 200 medley) break school records.
