Rams win second annual rivalry dual with Wyoming
FORT COLLINS – After falling short in last year's inaugural Border Dual, Colorado State track & field found its revenge on Saturday against rival Wyoming as both the men's and women's teams were victorious at the Jack Christiansen Track.
Â
The women's team won the meet by a score of 90-40, while the men's team took a 90-32 victory.
Â
The exclamation point was provided by freshman Jet Van Der Heijden who put on a clinic in the women's javelin competition by recording a personal best on four of her six attempts. The Netherlands native unleashed a 49.60 meter/162-feet-8.75 missile on her final attempt of the day, vaulting her to third all-time in CSU history and within the projected qualifying range for NCAA Regionals. Van Der Heijden also recorded a PR in the hammer throw earlier in the day with a mark of 46.40/152-2.75.
Â
Several other personal bests were set on the day, beginning with Ndayiragije Shukurani who was seeking to set the program record in the high jump. Shukurani entered the day with a personal best of 7-0.25, just 0.5 inches off of the CSU record. The sophomore came up just short of the record but improved his personal best with a mark of 2.15 meters/7-0.5.
Â
Several impressive performances were found in the men's 200 as Kenny Carpenter entered the program's top-20 in a big way with his time of 21.24 that put him 13th. Also entering the top 20 in the event was Wilkins Persichina who clocked a 21.42 which is good for 19th all-time.
Â
Neya Jamison continued her impressive outdoor season by recording a personal best in the 100 hurdles. Jamison's time of 13.47 further solidifed her place at No. 3 in the CSU record book. Also clocking a PR in the event was Annabella Palillian, whose 14.25 improved upon her previous best by 0.01 seconds.
Â
Carsen Bruns stole the show in the men's 400 hurdles, running a personal best 51.81 that stands as the No. 12 time in CSU history. Bruns' time is the fastest among active Rams, surpassing teammates Jack Wetterling and Owen Langdon.
Â
Leonardo Ramos continued his climb after missing the majority of indoor season due to an injury and hit a major season milestone in the men's shot put. Ramos recorded a season best 18.29/60-0, marking his first throw of 60 feet since the 2025 outdoor season.
Â
Leading the way on the men's side of the javelin was freshman Austin Shaffer, who threw 58.89m/193-2.5 on his final attempt of the day. The mark established a PR for Shaffer and put him in the program's top 20 all time.
