vs NCAA Mountain Region Championships

FORT COLLINS. – Colorado State cross country has its sights set on Reno, Nev., as the Rams are bound for the NCAA Mountain Regionals, Friday at Washoe County Golf Course.

Refuting Expectations
The Cross-Country men are running hot after their excellent performance at the Mountain West Championship on Nov. 1. The Rams, who were ranked in a tie for fourth in the pre-championship coaches poll, finished second place at the conference clash. CSU finished above ranked conference opponents No. 20 Wyoming and No.19 Utah State, only behind the eventual conference champions, No. 6 New Mexico.

Ranking Risers
The men, who were not even receiving votes in the week four USTFCCCA coaches' poll, catapulted up the newest version to a season-high No. 23. Colorado State was the biggest riser in the nation and now finds themselves as the second highest ranking MW team, above the previously mentioned Wyoming and Utah State. The men also moved up four slots in the regional rankings and now sit at fourth.

Dynamic Duo
Anna Petr and Quinn McConnell continue to be the model of consistency on this Colorado State cross country women's team. The pair once again finished less than a second apart and led the Ram women to a third-place finish at the MW Championships. McConnell (7th) and Petr (8th) have finished in close proximity all season long and are receiving all-conference honors for their performances.

Terrific Trio
Cory Kennedy, Lars Mitchel and Michael Mooney put on their best performance of the season as a trio at the MW Championship. Mooney (7th), Mitchel (8th) and Kennedy (10th) led the Rams to an incredible week in which the team launche up the rankings.

All Conference
Six Rams now get to wear the title of all-conference for the rest of the season, three representing each team. Kennedy, Mitchel and Mooney received the recognition on the men's side, while McConnell, Petr and Kensey May represented the women.

What It Takes
The NCAA Cross Country Championship Selection show takes place Saturday, Nov. 16th at 3.00 p.m. MT. 31 teams from each gender will be selected, with the top two teams from each of the nine regional championships receiving a bid in addition to 13 at large.The CSU women were selected as an at large bid in the 2023 season and have made each of the last four NCAA Championships.
