FORT COLLINS — Colorado State soccer opens its first season in the Pac-12 with a pair of in-state match ups this week, traveling to Boulder to face Colorado on Wednesday, Aug. 12, before returning home to host Denver in the season's home opener on Sunday, Aug. 16. Kickoff at Prentup Field is set for 7 p.m., and the Denver match at CSU Soccer Field is set for 3 p.m.

All home and Pac-12 matches this season will be streamed on the Pac-12's YouTube channel for free.

Series History

CSU trails Colorado 0-2-3 in the all-time series, but there's a wrinkle. The teams haven't met since a scoreless draw in Boulder on August 19, 2018, and a scheduled 2021 meeting never took place, so nobody currently on either roster has played in this rivalry.
Denver leads its series with the Rams 5-3-2. The teams have alternated hosting one another every year since 2021, and last August's meeting in Denver went to the Pioneers, 2-1, a comeback win that upset a then-No. 25-ranked CSU squad.

Scouting the Opponents
Colorado

The Buffaloes enter 2026 off a 17-4-3 record and set single-season program records for wins, points, goals and assists along the way.
CU advanced to the Sweet 16 for just the third time in school history, and the first since 2013, before falling to host Michigan State.
That run earned 15th-year head coach Danny Sanchez a contract extension. He has taken the Buffaloes to nine NCAA Tournament appearances and owns a 162-90-42 record at CU.

Denver

The Pioneers finished 9-2-7 a year ago and earned the second overall seed in the Summit League Tournament, entering the postseason on a five-match unbeaten streak.
It's fourth-year head coach Julianne Sitch's first season with Denver as a member of the West Coast Conference. The Pioneers make their WCC debut Sept. 26.

Quick Kicks

It's the sixth season under head coach Keeley Hagen, who has guided the Rams to a 44-30-24 record since taking over in 2021. Colorado State has reached the Mountain West Tournament three consecutive years under her watch.
Wednesday's match is the first in program history played as a member of the Pac-12, though it falls in the non-conference portion of the schedule. CSU opens conference play Oct. 1 at Fresno State.
Midfielder Mia Casey found her name on a national watchlist as one of the top midfielders in the nation. The senior was named by the United College Soccer Coahes Association top midfielders to watch this season. Casey comes into the 2026 season ranked 12th in program history in goals (12), second in assists (11) and third in points (43). The California native recorded four goals and three assists last season.
