Eslinger Named Mountain West Freshman of the Week

Redshirt freshman wins first weekly award of her career

FORT COLLINS - Fort Collins native Madi Eslinger was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week after her performance in the Colorado Classic during the Rams home-opening weekend of the spring season, announced Monday afternoon. 
 
Eslinger's accolades include: 
  • Led the Rams to an undefeated home-opening weekend after four games against rivals, Northern Colorado and Creighton. 
  • Totaled three extra base hits throughout the weekend, two of which were doubles and the Rams' game-tying home run in Sunday's game against Northern Colorado. 
  • Led the Rams with six RBI on the weekend, taking every opportunity at the plate. 
  • Contributed by scoring twice while slugging over 1.000 at 1.091 over the course of the four games.  
  • Went three-for-three at the plate against Northern Colorado on Sunday, completing the weekend sweep and contributing greatly for the Rams on offense.  
 
Up Next: Eslinger and the Rams enter week five of the spring season as they return to Ram Field to host the Rams Invitational from March 6-8, with games against Drake, Kansas City, South Dakota and South Dakota State.
