Freshman Kaja Dionne's first career goal earns the win
SAN MARCOS, Texas – Kaja Dionne turned on the jets and sliced through the Texas State defenders on her way to her first career goal and the game-winner Thursday night helping the Rams earn a 2-1 victory over the Bobcats. The win extends CSU win streak to three games.
Â
Colorado State and Texas State traded penalty kicks 20 minutes into the game to be tied at 1. The Bobcats struck first with a PK in the 17th minute and just three minutes later Maggie Altman converted her second PK of the year to even the score.
Â
The Rams continued to push the pace in the first half when Kaja Dionne sliced and diced her way through the Bobcat defense like a chef in the kitchen of a Texas BBQ joint. She sneaked the ball low and to the left of Texas State's goalkeeper to put CSU up 2-1.
Â
Colorado State took that lead into the break and Shayna Ross became a stone wall in the second half. The California native finished the night with six saves. Four of them coming in the second half.
Â
Game Notes
