RAM TALK
  • The Week That Was: Colorado State was back in Moby Arena for two games, beginning with a defensive masterclass 78-47 win over Southern on Tuesday. The Rams combined for 20 assists as a team and had four players reach double figures on the night, improving to 4-0 at home. The home win streak came to an end on Saturday, however, as the Rams went toe-to-toe with an explosive Northern Arizona team. Despite 22 points from Emma Ronsiek and a near triple-double from Sanna Ström (13 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists), CSU was not able to complete the comeback effort.
  • Protect The Rock: The Rams do a lot of good things, but one of their secrets to success is actually something they DON'T do: Turn the ball over. The Rams have led the nation in fewest turnovers per game in each of the last two seasons, coughing it up only 9.1 times per game in 2023-24. Despite the new-look roster, that trait seems to have been passed down to this year's squad as the Rams are giving up an average of just 8.0 turnovers through two games, which again leads the nation. Colorado State has had 10-or-fewer turnovers in 12-straight games, dating back to last season. Colorado State is one game away from tying its own Mountain West record of consecutive games with 10-or-less, doing so in 13-straight games across the 2021-22/2022-23 seasons.
  • Keepin' Things Clean: Colorado State has been one of the cleanest teams in the nation over the past 10 seasons, ranking fifth nationally in fouls per game since the 2014-15 season (13.7) entering this season. The Green and Gold are keeping pace with history thus far in the 2024-25 season, committing just 12.8 fouls through six games which is 12th in the nation.
  • Sisters Are Serving: Sisters Emma and Hannah Ronsiek have lived up to the hype of their reunion thus far as they have been the Rams' top-two scorers this season, averaging 17.5 and 11.8 points per game, respectively. The duo were virtually unstoppable in Colorado State's win over Oregon State as Emma (26) and Hannah (24) poured in 50 of CSU's 65 points, shooting a combined 10-20 from behind the arc.
  • Fab Freshmen: Of Colorado State's five freshmen, Kloe Froebe and Brooke Carlson appear to be primed for significant roles this season. The duo combined for 21 of CSU's 25 bench points in the exhibition against Regis, with Froebe ranking second on the team in points (13) and rebounds (7). Froebe has started five of six games to begin the season and led the Rams in scoring both at BYU (14 points, Nov. 13) and at home against Columbia College (15 points, Nov. 16). Her performance in those games earned her MW Freshman of the Week honors. Carlson is averaging 5.2 points per game in jus 12.0 minutes per game, but her aggressive defense has her in the team lead for steals (8).
