Kyle Bell Named to Academic All-America Second Team

Fort Collins, Colo. - Colorado State sophomore running back Kyle Bell (Keenesburg, Colo.) was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Football Second Team.
Bell was a second team all-MWC pick as CSU's leading rusher during the 2005 season with 1,166 yards on 154 carries and nine touchdowns. He tallied five 100-yard rushing games and registered more yards than any other sophomore in school history.
Bell holds a 3.65 GPA with a major in technical journalisam. He joins BYU's Nathan Meikle and Utah's Spencer Toone, who were also selected to the second team, as the only players from the Mountain West Conference to be honored. Bell is one of only two sophomores, along with Dayton's Brandon Cramer, to be placed on either the first or second team.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA covering all NCAA championship sports.
