Colorado State University's football team returned to the practice field Saturday for a 90-minute workout in preparation for the team's Dec. 22 Poinsettia Bowl game with Navy in San Diego.

The Rams, however, won't begin working on a gameplan for the Midshipmen until Dec. 8, their next scheduled practice. Rams' coach Sonny Lubick has used the first two drills to get his team back on the field and working on various aspects of their game.

"We got out there and ran around a little bit. It keeps the continuity going instead of waiting three weeks to start practice," said Lubick following Saurday's workout. "We'll start working on Navy next week. By Thursday we'll have a feel of what we're going to do and we'll start working on Navy."

Navy features a triple-option offense and a solid defense, Lubick said. "Every team team has its own personality. They are pretty good defensively, and they run to the ball."

Lubick said the key for the Rams in the game is defending Navy's option.

"The big key for us is lowing down the oiption attack. We don't see that. We saw it against Air Force, but that's been two months ago.

Lubick is hopeful the short break since the team closed the regular season with a 31-27 win over UNLV to earn the bowl invite will give several injured players a chance to return to face Navy.

"We're hopeful of getting some of them back," he said Saturday.

Linebacker Jahmal Hall, who missed four games during the season with a knee injury, has practiced both times this week. Offensive tackle Mike Brisiel, injured in the second to last game of the year, did not play at UNLV, but Lubick is hopeful he'll return to action Thursday when CSU resumes practice. Defensive end Terrance Carter (knee) is questionable and missed the final two games. Safety Klint Kubiak (hamstring) has resumed light workouts.

Colorado State enters the game 6-5, having earned the school's ninth bowl trip in Lubick's 13 seasons. Navy is closing the 2005 regular season Saturday against service rival Army. Navy is 6-4 entering the game with Army.

Tickets to the game remain on sale by calling 1-800-491-RAMS, or online at CSURAMS.com. Kickoff for the game is 7:30 p.m. PT/8:30 p.m. MT at Qualcomm Stadium. The game will be shown by ESPN2, and broadcast live statewide by the Colorado State Sports Network.
