San Diego - Colorado State University's football team staged its first workout Monday since arriving in San Diego for Thursday night's Poinsettia Bowl game with Navy.
The 110-member football team arrived in San Diego Sunday afternoon, and were honored at a bowl dinner.
Monday, coach Sonny Lubick put his team through a two-hour workout at San Diego State University. The team will go through a similar workout Tuesday, then walk through at the game site Wednesday.
"I thought the players gave a good effort," said Lubick following the practice. "We got some things done. We h ave to get ready to play now."
Lubick said one of the hindrances during the workout was the heat. For the better part of two weeks in Fort Collins, the Rams had conducted workouts in chilly weather. Monday's practice took place in temperatures over 60 degrees, a far change from the Rams' Fort Collins home.
"It was warm. They (players) fought through it, and got some things done."
Lubick said the Rams will polish the team's game plan Tuesday.
"We're still missing some things," he said. "We're not hitting on all cylinders. We'll see if we can get some things done," Tuesday Lubick said.
Kickoff time is 7:30 p.m. PT/8:30 p.m. MT at Qualcomm Stadium. The game will be broadcast live by the Colorado State Sports Network, and shown by ESPN2.
