Cross country heads north for their season opener
Colorado State cross country opens the 2026 season Friday at the Wyoming Invitational in Cheyenne. The Rams enter a new season with a mix of experienced returners and emerging talent as they enter their inaugural season in the Pac-12.

MEET NOTES
The women's team returns a strong group from a 2025 squad which saw six Rams finish within seven places of one another at the Mountain West Championships. Sophomores Tatum Berg, Amrie Lacefield and Ruby Schwelm will be among the runners to watch after each made an impact during their freshman seasons.
Berg, a Fort Collins native, finished 24th at the Mountain West Championships last season, while Lacefield and Schwelm both finished among CSU's scoring five. Senior Mari Konold also returns after recording one of CSU's top 6K performances of the 2025 season at the Pre-National Invitational. The Rams will look to continue their recent success at the Wyoming Invitational, where the women's team has won the meet seven consecutive times entering Friday's season opener.Â
A veteran group returns on the men's side, led by Ryan Schumacher, Chris Henry and Ben Kirbo. Schumacher brings national-level experience to the group, while Henry and Kirbo both finished among CSU's top four at the 2025 Mountain West Championships. Parker Westermann returns after leading the Rams at last year's conference meet as a freshman.
Davis Rydman rounds out a group of experienced returners looking to help the Rams make an early statement in their first season in the Pac-12.Â
Friday's meet begins a five-event regular season for CSU before the Rams turn their attention to the postseason, beginning with the Pac-12 Championships on Oct. 30 in Boise, Idaho. Â
