Rams run rule South Dakota State before win over Drake
FORT COLLINS – Colorado State secured a decisive 8-0 victory over South Dakota State in five innings to start day two of the Rams Invitational. CSU's offense ignited early with six runs in the first inning, leading to a complete game shutout win for Reagan Wick in the circle. The Rams faced Drake in their second game of the day featuring a pitcher's duel, but took the lead in the fourth inning with a Jailey Wilson solo home run, securing the 1-0 victory.

- Colorado State opened day two against South Dakota State with a dominant first inning, scoring six runs. Lauren Stucky singled up the middle, and Jailey Wilson walked, moving Stucky to second. A wild pitch advanced both runners, and Kyra Smith's single up the middle brought Stucky home, with Wilson reaching third. Rylee Gonzalez pinch ran for Smith and advanced to second on a groundout. Wilson scored on a fielder's choice, and Gonzalez stole home on a third and third double steal. Clarissa Castillo stole second on the double steal and scored on a Kaylynn English double. Autumn Rutherford walked, stole second, and advanced to third on an error, scoring on a sacrifice fly by Abby Edwards.
- In the third inning, the Rams added two more. Castillo singled and was replaced by pinch runner Nadia DeZeeuw, who advanced on a walk and a hit by pitch. Bradie Poteet-Herrera walked with the bases loaded, scoring DeZeeuw and earning an RBI. Rutherford scored when Stucky was hit by a pitch.
- CSU secured the win in five innings when South Dakota State failed to score in the top of the fifth, leading to a run-rule victory.
- Reagan Wick delivered a standout performance on the mound for CSU, pitching a complete game and her third shutout of the season. Wick allowed only three hits over five innings, striking out four batters with zero walks. She threw 72 pitches, with 47 being strikes.
- Kaylynn English led the Rams offensively, reaching base twice with a double and a walk, also adding one RBI.
- The Rams secured the game-two win with a solo home run in the fourth inning from Jailey Wilson while pitchers Andrea Jaskowiak and Giselle Bently combined for a shutout game with Jaskowiak taking the win and Bentley the save.
- Drake threatened with multiple base runners in the fourth inning, but the Rams' defense held firm, leaving three runners stranded with a strike out from Jaskowiak.
- Bradie Poteet-Herrera had an outstanding game with multiple pick off putouts, catching two runners leading off at second base.
- Jaskowiak delivered a solid start for CSU, pitching five innings and allowing just three hits with four strikeouts and two walks. She faced 19 batters and recorded eight flyouts. Bentley entered in relief, pitching two innings without a run, striking out two batters, and allowing three hits, earning the save for the Rams.
- Wilson hit her second home run of the weekend in the game's lone RBI. Madi Eslinger contributed with a pinch-hit single in her only plate appearance. Jac Smith was effective in the field, recording five assists to support the defensive effort.
