Cross country set for final race before conference championships

FORT COLLINS – As conference championship season looms, Colorado State cross country regroups for a final test at the Princeton Fall Classic on Friday.

Princeton Fall Classic
Date: Friday, October 18th, 2024
Location: Meadows Campus at Princeton University
Women's 6K // 8:30 a.m. MT
Men's 8K // 9:15 a.m. MT

One Two Punch
The Ram women have been led by a pair of graduate students, Quinn McConnell and Anna Petr. In their two bouts this season, they have taken turns finishing in the top spot for the Rams. McConnell finished runner up at the Wyoming Invite to open the season, while Petr was close behind in third. The following meet, the Roy Griak Invitational, it was Petr who finished at the top spot for CSU (5th) with McConnell coming in just three seconds behind her in seventh.

Graduates Lead The Way
Likewise, the Ram men also are led by a pair of graduate students in Lars Mitchel and Michael Mooney. Mitchel has been a consistent force in his two outings this season with second place performances in both. As for Mooney, a 14th place at the Roy Griak has him back on track with his 2022 form. After a total of seven surgeries in his Colorado State career, Mooney looks to finish strong in his final season and continue to be a key contributor for the Ram men.

Rams Out East
Colorado State cross country has not had an official event on the east coast in at least the last 10 seasons. The course for Friday's meet is only 200 feet above sea level, a big contrast from the high-elevation meets the team is accustomed to.

Impact Underclassmen
Freshman Allison Pippert returns to competition after a pair of impressive performances to kick off her collegiate career, highlighted by a fifth-place individual finish at the Wyoming Invite.  On the men's side, sophomore Trent Nosky has notched two top-30 finishes in his first season of cross country action. Finishing as the fourth-highest Ram at the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational, Nosky looks to build off that performance heading into the Princeton Fall Classic.
