Rams Host In-State Rival and Four-Team Invitational All in One Week

Northern Colorado, Arkansas, Florida Gulf Coast and Alabama State all come to Moby Arena
FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- After opening up the season 2-0 this last weekend, the Colorado State volleyball team will host four games in five days as a part of its non-conference slate. The Rams will face Northern Colorado, Tuesday and then see three straight match day's taking on Arkansas, Florida Gulf Coast and Alabama State on consecutive days Thursday through Saturday.

What You Need to Know
- The Rams kicked off their season last weekend, starting off 2-0 for the first time since 2016.
- Colorado State took down North Carolina and UC Santa Barbara, with both matches ending 3-1.
- This week, the Rams will play four games in five days which will be their busiest week of the season until tournament time comes in November.
Series History
- The in-state rivalry between the Rams and the Bears has been around since 1976, but the matchup took a near 30-year break from 1984-2007. Since Hilbert restored the matchup in 2007, the Rams lead the series 13-1, winning the first 13 contests since 2007 and dropping their first match to the Bears under Hilbert last season.
- Northern Colorado and Colorado State boast wins over the same two opponents so far this season as the Bears beat UC Santa Barbara 3-1 last Friday and North Carolina 3-0 last Saturday.

- History with the Razorbacks also starts at the beginning of Hilbert's time with the Rams as the first ever matchup took place in 1997, the year Hilbert took the helm. This first matchup is the only loss for the Rams over five games against the Razorbacks.

Match Notes Nuggets
- Junior Kennedy Stanford had a breakout opening weekend for the Rams as the outside hitter totaled 23 kills over the first two matches, hitting at a .333 kill percentage. She also added 19 digs from the back row as well and five blocks and two aces from the service line.
- Redshirt Sophomore Malaya Jones made her college volleyball debut against North Carolina last Friday. After transferring from Southern California, the outside hitter took advantage of her long-awaited court time by tallying 21 kills and two blocks.
- The Rams saw a great attack from their two middle blockers against the Gauchos Saturday night as Jaqci Van Liefde and Karina Leber hit a combined .750 kill percentage as each of them recorded 12 kills on the night.
- Redshirt Freshman Kate Yoshimoto served as the Rams' libero this weekend and in her collegiate debut, the Hawaii native led the team in weekend digs with 24 as well as passing 43 successful serve receptions.
- Annie Sullivan was the third Ram to total 20+ kills in Colorado State's opening weekend. The senior finished with 20 kills while leading the Rams in blocking with seven total blocks.
