Shukurani and Waters headline a huge day for the Rams
Doug Max Invitational Â
Both records fell within a matter of moments with Shukurani's first jump coming just before Waters' record-breaking vault. Shukurani set the record on his first attempt with a 52-foot-1.75-meter, passing teammate Ishmael Dembele. He then proceeded to beat that mark on his fourth attempt with a monster 52-11/16.13 cementing himself amongst the NCAA's elites. "Shuku" now ranks No. 15 in the nation and is a clear favorite in the triple jump along with Ismael Dembele heading into the Mountain West Indoor Championship.Â
Waters struck shortly after, recording a 5.22/17-1.5 to win the pole vault on a shortened approach flying over the bar for another school record. The freshman from Aurora now has the program record in both the indoor and outdoor pole vault. Waters now has a mark in the qualifying range for NCAA West regionals. Â
Additional throwers moving up the record book included shot putters Kyle Bigley and Makayla Long. Long moves to third best at Colorado State with her outdoor personal best of 57-6.5/17.54. The mark currently ranks No. 9 in the NCAA. Bigley threw an impressive 18.55/60-10.25 to jump his teammate Leonardo Ramos for fourth in school history. Bigley now ranks third in the conference and in the top 35 of the nation. Â
Kajsa Borrman also took her turn testing history; the hometown star set a personal best in the hammer throw inching her way even closer to CSU's record with a fifth throw 69.02/226-5.25. The mark is just a few feet shy of former national champion Loree Smith's record of 70.03-229-9. Borrman now sits NCAA No. 6 heading into the MW Championships.Â
Freshman Austin Shaffer put together the best performance of his young career, ripping a massive 63.97/209-10.5 in his last throw of the javelin.  Shaffer moves to eighth place all time in the event and now has a shot at regional qualification. Â
Jesse Imemba had the best outdoor meet of his career with a 2.12/6-11.25. Imemba won the high jump and set a mark that broke a tie to take sole possession of the seventh best in CSU history. Â
Despite running at elevation, the Rams found success in the 800 on both the men's and women's sides. The men saw Ethan Mann shoot from 15th to 6th all-time in event with a 1:49.61. Just behind Mann was Trent Nosky who moved to 10th all-time with a 1:50.15. Â
The men's 400-meter has been a powerhouse for the Rams all year, and that stayed true today. CSU had two athletes set a PR on Saturday in Kenny Carpenter and Ashton Whisler. Carpenter shortened the gap program record with a 45.71 and Whisler moved to sixth best with a 46.64. Â
The men's 4x100 ran by Roman Saiz, Wilkins Persichina, Tyler Colwell and Carpenter recorded a meet record on the day with a mark of 39.98. In the 400-meter hurdles Carsen Bruns set another personal best to move into eighth all-time for the Rams (51.16). Â
The women's sprints had a great outing starting with Neya Jamison in the 100-hurdles. Her personal best 13.31 still sits third all time for CSU and was a meet record on the day. Jamison's race today currently gives her a qualifying time for regionals.  Alora Tortorelli Cruz made her way into the top 20 in the 100 meters with an 11.94. Â
