Rams Set for Moby Madness After Dark

Colorado State to host Saint Joseph’s in the first round of the NIT on Wednesday night
FORT COLLINS, Colo.  – Colorado State men's basketball starts its postseason with some Moby Madness After Dark action Wednesday when hosting Saint Joseph's at 9 p.m. MT.

Opening Tip
- Colorado State's is making its 11th appearance in the NIT, with a record of 9-11 overall in the tournament.
- CSU last appeared in the NIT in 2021, finishing in fourth place.
- Wednesday night's game between the Rams and Hawks is the first ever meeting between the two teams.
- This is CSU's third straight post season appearance and fifth in six years (21-NIT, 22-NCAA, 24-NCAA, 25-NCAA, 26-NIT).
- Colorado State went 1-1 in the Mountain West Tournament, defeating Fresno State in the first round before falling to San Diego State in the quarterfinals.
- The Rams had their worst shooting night of the year in the loss to SDSU. CSU was held to 33.3% from the field for a second time this season. The other also came against San Diego State in January.
- Jase Butler a strong Mountain West Tournament averaging 17.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in the two games. He shot 60.0% from behind the arc, making nine 3-pointers.
- The Rams had two players earn All-Conference honors in Jevin Muniz (third team) and Brandon Rechsteiner (honorable mention).
- Muniz averaged 10.3 points, 4.9 assists and 3.7 rebounds during conference play, while Rechsteiner led the team with 12.6 points per game, making 2.45 threes per game and shooting 38.9% behind the arc.
- The Rams reached 20 wins for the sixth time in the past seven years this season.
- Ali Farokhmanesh became the third first-year head coach at CSU to reach 20 wins. He joins Larry Eustachy (26, 2012-13) and Boyd Grant (22, 1987-88)
- The Rams and Aztecs split the series this season, defending their home courts.
- Colorado State has won 10-plus conference games 17 times in the program's history; six of those 17 occurrences have come with coach Ali Farkohmanesh on staff. (2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22, 2023-24, 2024-25, 2025-26).
- The charity stripe has been a key to success for CSU during conference play, in wins they are averaging 27.5 free throw attempts per game compared to just 14.8 in losses. The Rams are shooting 75.1% from the free throw line in conference play.
- The Rams rank 27th in the nation, making 77.1% of their free throws overall this year.
- CSU ranks 102nd in the nation and fourth in the Mountain West in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.34.
- The Rams' 15.9 assists per game are the second best in the Mountain West and 68th in the nation.
- Jevin Muniz is the team's main distributor, averaging 4.9 assists per game, which leads the Mountain West and ranks 67th nationally. His 3.18 assist-to-turnover ratio is 24th in the nation and also the best in the conference.
- Colorado State is assisting on 63.0% of its made field goals on the year, the 11th-best mark in the nation.
- CSU's effective field goal percentage of 58.5% is ninth in the nation and leads the Mountain West.
Scouting the Hawks
Saint Joseph's comes to Fort Collins with a 22-11 record, going 13-5 in the Atlantic 10 for a third place finish. The Hawks reached the semifinals of the A-10 tournament.
St. Joe's is led by veteran head coach Steve Donahue who is in his first season leading the Hawks. He earned the A-10 Coach of the Year honor.
The Hawks are led by co-Defesnvie Player of the Year Justice Ajogbor (6.3 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 2.1 bpg) along with first team member Derek SImpson (13.5 ppg, 5.3 apg, 5.1 rpg), second team member Jaiden Glover-Toscano (15.8 ppg, 4.8 rpg) and All-Rookie honoree Austin Williford (7.9 ppg, 4.5 rpg).
What's Ahead
With a win the Rams will play the winner of the California-UIC game on either March 21 or 22 at a site that will be determined following the conclusion of Wednesday's game.
