Loveland native claims First-Team All-America

FAYETTVILLE – Kajsa Borrman made her mark on Friday at the NCAA Indoor Nationals finishing sixth place in the weight throw and claiming a First-Team All-America award.

Borrman started the day with a series of pedestrian throws to her standard. Sitting in ninth place due to a third throw 21.76-meters/71-feet-4.75, Borrman would have two more shots at the top eight, with eyes on First-Team All-America.

Her fifth-round throw was second worst on the day, serving as a warm-up for a sixth and final round bomb. Borrman unleashed in her final attempt recording a personal best 22.47/73-8.75. The second-best mark by a Ram all time was good enough to launch her comfortably into the first team and an eventual sixth place.

The local star now sits behind former indoor nationals runner-up and outdoor nationals champion Loree Smith in Colorado State's record book. Smith also holds the Mountain West record in the event at 74-3.75.

Borrman now begins her quest to return to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the hammer throw, an event where she also ranks second in CSU history behind Smith.

Looking Ahead
Makayla Long readies for her turn on the ultimate stage Saturday in the shot put. Long joins a legacy of Rams that have appeared four straight years at Indoor Nationals. The shot put begins at 1:45 MT with Long entering as the fourth thrower.
