Action at Bedford Cup Takes off with Thrilling Day 1

Competitive matches set the stage for an exciting weekend

Day one of Bedford Cup has wrapped up and here's what happened.  

The ladies went 5-4 in the four main draws in singles play today, with Junior Diana Lizarazo making it to the semifinals in the Bravo bracket. Senior Sorcha Caves and sophomore Leyla Tozin both lost in the second round in the alpha bracket, along with senior Logan Vokes in the delta bracket. They will look to bounce back as they have consolation play tomorrow. Sophomore Dylan Vokes lost in the first round of the Charlie draw but gained a win in the first round of consolation play. She will look to continue her momentum into tomorrow's matches.  

Doubles was a different story.  
 

The Rams had 4 doubles pairs and went 3-1 in the first round today. Duo Sorcha Caves and Annika Planinsek are ranked as the number 4 pair in this tournament as they look to build from their tournament win last weekend at home.  
 

Tomorrow's action will start at 9am with doubles, then will be followed up by singles play.
