Rams host eight squads to open fall campaign
FORT COLLINS – Colorado State women's tennis is set to host eight teams at the Jon Messick Invitational, a three-day tournament at the CSU Tennis Complex. Joining the Rams on the courts will be Wyoming, Utah State, New Mexico State, Air Force, Chicago, Utah, Montana State and Weber State.
With only three returning players, CSU will start the season with a fresh look. The roster features four freshmen, including Dylan Voeks, sister of returning junior Logan Voeks. The Rams also added three transfers — Annika Planinsek, Hanna Haber, and Sorcha Caves — to round out the lineup.
The opening tournament will serve as both a benchmark and an evaluation period, coach Mail-Ly Tran said. It will reveal how players' offseason training has translated into performance and provide insight into how they adjust to new teammates and competitive dynamics within our program.
Competition begins Friday at 10 a.m. with two rounds of doubles followed by a round of singles. Saturday's schedule fill follow suit, before wrapping up with finals matches on Sunday. Action begins at 9 a.m., the final two days.
It's the beginning of a new chapter, and I can't wait to see their energy and team culture come through as they compete together, Tran said.
The Rams look forward to the start of their fall season, hosting the tournament on their home court. The team will compete in five fall tournaments in preparation for the spring dual season.
