Standout sophomore elevates accolades in year two with the Rams
FORT COLLINS – The Colorado State women's golf team celebrate sophomore Kara Kaneshiro being named to the 2024-25 First Team All-Mountain West team, the league office announced Thursday afternoon as voted on by the coaches.
Â
Kaneshiro elevates her freshman year accolades from 2023-24 when she was named the Mountain West freshman of the Year and to the Second-Team All-Mountain West by earning the first first-team honor of her career and second consecutive first-team honor for the Colorado State women's golf program overall.
Â
The sophomore boasts a No. 202 individual ranking according to Scoreboard with an average 72.5 score per round this season. Competing in all ten of Colorado State's tournaments this season, Kaneshiro played even or better overall in four of the ten tournaments for the Rams including her best performances being at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational October 21-23 finishing fourth and playing six-under par and the Westbrook Invitational February 23-24, finishing sixth out of 78 golfers, finishing eight-under par.
Â
Kaneshiro's last appeared for the Rams at the 2025 Mountain West Championships, notching a fifth-place finish playing three-over par on the tournament overall and leading the Rams to a fourth-place team finish.
Â
After this accolade, Kaneshiro will continue her individual season by competing in the Lubbock regional at the The Rawls Course as an individual with a bid to the NCAA Championships on the line. While she will compete individually among the entire Lubbock field of golfers, Kaneshiro will look to be the lowest scoring of the six individuals competing to punch her ticket to Carlsbad, California and the 2025 NCAA Championship taking place May 16-21.
