Kimpson builds on her own school-record, Mitchel and Morris impress.
FORT COLLINS – Colorado State track and field competed in three meets in three different states on Saturday headlined by the conclusion of the Don Kirby Invite and the Husky Classic. CSU also sent a handful of athletes to Colorado Springs for the Colorado Running Company Mountain Lion Open.
Husky Classic (Seattle, Wash.)
In the women's mile, multiple Rams set personal bests and made their way into the all-time record book. Annie Macabobby recorded a personal best 4:50.94 which now has her at 11th all time for the Rams. Freshman Allison Pippert's 4:53.37 was good enough to move her into 20th.
On the men's side, standout Lars Mitchel moved up 13 places in the record book and now ranks 5th place in the mile with a time of 4:04.10. Mitchel is coming off a cross-country season in which he qualified for the NCAA Championships.
Don Kirby Elite Invitational (Albuquerque, N.M.)
Maria Kimpson, the program record holder in the women's pole vault, surpassed her top mark by a half inch with a height of 4.21-meters/13-9.75 Kimpson took sole possession of the record just two weeks ago at the Colorado Invitational and continues to raise the bar.
Three Rams found themselves in the top five of the women's shot put, once again led by first place finisher Mya Lesnar. However, it was Gabby Morris (3rd) and Makayla Long (5th) who set personal records. Morris's mark of 17.64m/57-10.5 passes her personal best by three inches and holds her place at second all time. Long's throw of 16.46/54-0 moves her to sixth place all time in the event.
Reuben Holness continues to impress in the 800, making it three events in a row with a personal best. Holness's time of 1:51.30 places him at a tie for 8th all time with former Ram Joey Alzola. Holness finished fourth place, with freshman teammate Ethan Mann coming in at eighth.
Will Chiang recorded a personal best in the pole vault with a mark of 4.90m16-0.75, moving into a tie with two other Rams for 14th place all time. Chiang finished fifth place in the event, just one spot ahead of fellow Ram Justin Bate.
Colorado Running Company Mountain Lion Open (Colorado Springs Colo.)
A handful of Rams competed in the men's 60 hurdles including PJ Robinson who finished third place and recorded a new personal best of 8:10. Fellow Ram Dominic Gallelli finished fifth place in his first action of the season.
