FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State volleyball head coach Tom Hilbert announced the addition of three student-athletes to continue their careers at CSU following high school graduation. Brooke Hudson, Alyssa Bert and Madison Boles will join the Colorado State volleyball program in the fall of 2019, with the exception of Hudson who will join this spring after graduating early.
Alyssa Bert | Oklahoma City, Oklahoma | Westmoore HS | Libero
Alyssa will join the Rams following graduation in the spring 2019 after signing a letter of commitment … named first-team all-conference in 2018 and 2016 … Central Oklahoma Athletic Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Year in 2017 … named team MVP all four years of prep … earned "Heart of the Team" in 2015 and 2017 … received 4.0 award and academic excellence in English award … invited into the National Honor Society … was part of student council all four years … volunteered with the Special Olympics … plans to major in English education … wants to be a teacher, coach and missionary … favorite athlete is Baker Mayfield.
Chose Colorado State because…
"I chose Colorado State because of all the incredible people I've met since visiting the first time in 2016. Everyone has been so loving and down to earth, including the volleyball coaching staff and team, not to mention being able to play for such a high level volleyball program is a privilege and an honor. Another reason that I chose Fort Collins is because it is beautiful, and full of new sights for me to see while being there for the next four years."
Head Coach Hilbert on Alyssa…
"Alyssa is a ball handler from Oklahoma who I like because she has great composure and platform control. She reminds me of a smaller version of Olivia Nicholson. She is a good student and someone who I know will be dedicated and work extremely hard."
Brooke Hudson | Houston, Texas | Cypress Lakes | Libero/DS
Brooke will join the Rams following graduation in the winter 2018 after signing a letter of commitment … she will join the Rams for the spring season … as a junior was named second-team all-district and ranked in the top-three in district for assists … in her final year of prep she was named team MVP … earned first-team all-district and district Defensive Player of the Year … her sister Brianna Hudson plays volleyball at East Carolina … plans to major in psychology … wants to be a forensic psychologist … favorite athlete is Haley Eckerman.
Chose Colorado State because…
"I chose CSU because the minute I stepped on campus, it felt like home. Everyone was so welcoming, the volleyball staff and team were so nice and I could just see myself loving every second of my experience here. My volleyball coaches always told me, the true test to know if you love the school was if you could see yourself going there without the sports aspect, and I definitely would attend CSU even if it was not for sports."
Head Coach Hilbert on Brooke…
"Brooke is a ball handler who has great speed, instincts of the game and is super competitive. She not only will contribute as a good volleyball player, but her competitiveness will enhance our practice environment and matches.
Madison Boles | Tacoma, Washington | Life Christian Academy | Outside
Madison will join the Rams following graduation in the spring of 2019 after signing a national letter of intent … as a freshman she was named to the first-team all-Pacific League … earned MVP all-league honors as a sophomore … her junior year brought her MaxPrep Player of the Week and a first-team all-league honor … is undecided on her major … favorite athlete is Simone Lee.
Chose Colorado State because...
"I chose Colorado State because the school provides all the academic provisions for my accommodations as a student. In my high school career, I have taking the same tests number of times, and have had hour long tutoring sessions from teachers. To know that Colorado State has the perfect support and outlets of academic balances to help me achieve as a student, makes me feel supported when I arrive in July. As an athlete, the culture of the team means a lot to me and to see the family love and unified strength of the team brings excitement to me. When I first visited the team, they were so welcoming and made me feel like one of them. The laughter, intensity, comfort, competitive level, and unity of the program shows me that I have picked the right place to be at for the next 5 years."
Head Coach Hilbert on Madison… "Madison is a smaller outside hitter with a great jump and a very fast arm. She has been converted from playing middle and right to playing the left side and that is going to require some development. She might not be somebody that plays right away but within a year. She is really dynamic and plays high. She is a tremendous jumper and really has a great arm.
Head Coach Hilbert on the class…
"The defensive players will be more likely to play immediately since we return everyone next year. I look at the class and think Madison will be a development player, which I think is good to bring players like that in because if you redshirt them, they end up being better for us later in their career."
Colorado State will finish the regular season hosting UNLV and New Mexico this week. The Rams are one win shy of clinching their 15th Mountain West Championship and 20th overall. With the victory, the Rams will also make its 24th consecutive NCAA Tournament berth.
