GOLDEN, Colo. – Colorado State senior-to-be Christina Spinzig won her first Colorado Women’s Golf Association Match Play Championship this week at the Club at Rolling Hills in Golden, Colo.
Spinzig, a native of Evergreen, Colo., cruised in the championship round defeating Michaela Breit, who plays collegiately at Colorado State-Pubelo, 10 and 9. The win, which was part of a scheduled 36 holes, was the largest margin of victory in a CWGA Open since 2005.
Spinzig stormed out to an early lead on Breit going 8-up through 13 holes, while shooting an even-par 36 on the back nine to end the match after 27 holes.
During her 2012-13 campaign, Spinzig participated in 10 tournaments and was third on the team with an average of 78.2.
