FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- As Colorado State University celebrates its homecoming weekend, the swimming and diving team will be observing a reunion of its own. The team is hosting a special weekend of events to honor former head coach John Mattos and the 31 years of service he gave to CSU.

“This is the right time to begin to look forward with our program while honoring our celebrated past,” Head Coach Woody Woodard said. “We hope our CSU family can make every effort to attend, before John takes his surfboard, snowboard and fishing pole and heads off into the sunset.”

The events will be as follows:

Friday, Sept. 30
4:30-6 p.m. – Watch the homecoming parade on the Oval.
Following parade – Join the pep rally and festivities on the West Lawn.

Saturday, Oct. 1
6:30-9:30 a.m. – Watch the 2011-12 swimming and diving team at the open team practice.
9:30-10:30 a.m. – The main event; coach John Mattos will give a presentation.
11-11:30 a.m. – Join the tour of Hughes Stadium.
Noon-2 p.m. – Tailgate in Ram Town before the homecoming football game.
2 p.m. – Cheer on the Rams against San Jose State.
