FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State has signed five-star recruit Natalie Heffron to a National Letter of Intent, tennis Head Coach Jon Messick announced Thursday.

A product of Atlanta, Ga., Heffron is ranked No. 80 in the country, and hails from the highly regarded Southern region. Last year, she ranked No. 14 in that section.

“Natalie has an exceptional record, coming from the most highly competitive section in the country," said Messick.

According to the Tennis Recruiting Network, Heffron is also ranked No. 5 in Georgia and currently holds a 46-22 record. During the 2010 tournament season, Heffron has participated in the USTA National Open and also the Gator Bowl event, where she made the quarterfinals before eventually being defeated.

"She has an extensive match record and she has consistently reached the later rounds of big tournaments and done well against top sectional and national players," said Messick. "She should make an immediate impact in the lineup for the Rams next season.”

Heffron was home-schooled and did not attend an Atlanta high school.

The CSU women's tennis team will return to the courts Jan 29, when the Rams host Denver at Miramont Lifestyle Fitness. The Rams also look forward to their first home duals at their new tennis facility. Additionally, CSU will host the 2010 Mountain West Conference men’s and women’s tennis championships in the spring.
