Rams Pick Up Three Dual Victories Over Conference Opponents

The Colorado State swimming and diving team picked up three dual conference wins Saturday afternoon at Edora Pool and Ice Center in Fort Collins. The Rams beat Air Force by a final point total of 194-98, beat New Mexico 178-111 and topped San Diego State 185-103.
The Rams got it going from the early on in the meet. In the first event, the 200-yard Medley Relay, Colorado State's Brette Winegarner, Victoria Curtis, Nora Kennedy, and Carmen Cianci won with a final time of 1:49.37. The Rams also took third place in the event with Relay "B" - Amy Abrams, Mari Anna Loftness, Tara Staley, and Alina Roberts - crossing the finish in 1:49.50.
The Rams' hot streak continued as CSU swimmers also won events two through four. Kathleen McCleary took top honors in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:35.28. Cianci won the 200-yard freestyle with a finish time of 1:54.08, edging teammate Staley who placed second (1:54.62). Cianci (53.78) also won the 100-yard freestyle. Winegarner (58.10) and Amy Abrams (59.80) placed first and second, respectively, in the 100-yard backstroke. Winegarner also won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:10.08.
In diving, Colorado State's Elyse Hall and Nicole Kelley placed first and second in 3-meter diving. Hall finished with 291.25 points and Kelly gathered 258.40 points.
In other match-ups in the meet, New Mexico topped Air Force 188-112, San Diego State beat Air Force 161-138, and New Mexico took a win from San Diego State 168-131.
The Rams look to keep building on their success when they travel to Fort Worth, Texas, Nov. 2 to take on TCU. The meet is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. MT.
