Jay McMillin started at Colorado State University in March of 2013. McMillin came from Idaho State University where his was Assistant Athletic Director for Major gifts from 2009-2013. He served as Director of the Bengal Foundation from 2006-2008. Before transitioning to athletic development he spent 15 years on staff as an assistant men's basketball coach at the University of Idaho, Boise State University and Idaho State University. He received his undergraduate degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University (1988) and a Master's degree from the University of Idaho (1992).

Jay and his wife Alisha have four children Lauren, Cooper, Madalyn and Emersyn.
