Brown and Vereen named players to watch
FORT COLLINS – The Shriners Children's East-West Bowl announced its preseason top 1,000 list on Monday, tabbing Colorado State's Mel Brown and Juice Vereen as players to watch during the upcoming college football campaign.

The preseason watch list serves as a look into the bowl's scouting process and previews college football players who are currently eligible for the 2027 East-West Bowl and the 2027 NFL Draft class.

Vereen has emerged as a talent to watch among a skilled tight end room for Colorado State as he followed head coach Jim Mora from UConn over the offseason. Vereen played one season at UConn – logging four receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown in three games – after beginning his career at North Carolina State.

Brown also followed Mora to Fort Collins and figures to play a prominent role within a competitive running back group. Brown – who began his career at Gardner Webb – played in 18 games during his time at UConn where he totaled 935 yards and four touchdowns.

The Shriners Children's East-West Bowl is a best-in-class all-star event that will take place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington,TX on February 4, 2027. Players will be coached by NFL coaches, in an NFL facility, and will have access to NFL-level resources, facilities, player-friendly schedules, and opportunities at the highest level. Colorado State is less than 50 days away from beginning its inaugural campaign as a member of the Pac-12 Conference.
