Water Polo Downed by Nationally Ranked Teams

Los Angeles, Calif. - The Colorado State water polo team suffered a pair of losses, both to nationally ranked teams, in the final day of the Loyola Marymount Invitational. The Rams lost to No. 15 UC San Diego, 12-4 before falling to No.10 Loyola Marymount 16-6.

In game one, UCSD jumped out to a 5-0 lead and extended its advantage to 10-2 by the end of the third perios. The Rams and Tritons each scored two in the final frame to make the final 12-4.

Laurien White netted two goals for Colorado State while Emily Chambers and Shannon Kohl each added one. Goalkeeper Krystyna McCright had six saves in the game as well.

In the second contest, LMU swam to an 11-1 lead in the second quarter and held an 11-2 lead at the half. CSU scored two in the third and two in the fourth before falling 16-6.

White led CSU again with four goals while Emily McCullough and Monica Schuh each had one. Andrea Lugo also posted six saves in goal for the Rams.

Colorado State (12-17) will compete next in the Western Water Polo Association Championships in Santa Cruz, Calif., April 27-29.
