Colorado State University football coach Sonny Lubick said Tuesday it's not enough for his team to want to go to a bowl game.
The Rams, 5-5 overall and 4-3 in Mountain West Conference play, can become bowl eligible with a win at UNLV Saturday.
"I think we all want to go to a bowl. Now, it's how badly," said Lubick. "We can't talk about it. You have to go o ut and do it. You have got to deserve it. You deserve it by playing well."
Lubick said preparation will play a key role in the Rams' chances Saturday.
"It's not done by showing up Saturday. It's done by practicing Tuesday and Wednesday."
Tuesday, Lubick put his team through a 90-minute workout in cold, windy weather, but was pleased with the results.
"Practice was actually pretty good," he said following the workout. "The weather was cold, but we got some things done."
Lubick said starting offensive tackle Mike Brisiel remains doubtful with a lower back contusion. Center Albert Bimper, who has missed the last six games with a left hamstring, may play, however.
With a victory, the Rams become bowl eligible for the 11th time in Lubick's 13 seasons as head coach. The MWC has three bowl ties, and more possibilities could also be on the horizon, including the Fort Worth Bowl, league officials have said.
If the Rams win, they could be headed to either the Emerald Bowl (Dec. 22-San Francisco), Poinsettia Bowl (Dec. 22-San Diego), or another possibility such as the Fort Worth Bowl (Dec. 23-Fort Worth) that may also be available if other conferences cannot meet contractual commitments.
